Organization Summary:

Habitat for Humanity GTA is a non-profit housing organization working with communities to build homes for working, low-income families in need of safe, decent, affordable housing. By offering zero down payment, no-interest mortgages capped at 30 percent of a family’s income, Habitat for Humanity GTA offers families a hand up, empowering them to achieve stability and self-reliance through affordable homeownership, so that they can build a better life/a path out of poverty. With the support of donors and volunteers, we build homes in Brampton, Caledon, Toronto, and York Region, serving two-thirds of the GTA.

 

Since 1988, Habitat GTA has built more than 300 homes in partnership with families. Habitat GTA is one of more than 1,400 Habitat for Humanity affiliates worldwide sharing a common vision and purpose. Habitat for Humanity GTA also operates 10 Habitat ReStore home improvement retail stores across the GTA, which sell donated, new and gently-used home furnishing and renovation materials at a fraction of the original price. ReStore proceeds directly support building Habitat homes. ReStore also helps the environment, by diverting thousands of tons of household materials from landfill.

 

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Partnerships this role manages the Habitat Corporate Team Building Program (also known as Adopt-A-Day Program) to achieve or exceed annual fundraising targets to support Habitat for Humanity Greater Toronto Area’s mission. The Fund Development Manager, Corporate Partnerships also develops products and executes strategies to grow, renew and steward corporate financial support. Working closely with the Director, Corporate Partnerships, this role also assists with the expansion of the Corporate fundraising and sponsorship portfolio of Habitat for Humanity Greater Toronto Area.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Manages the corporate team building program known as Habitat Team Building Program (formerly known as Adopt-a-Day Program which includes:

  • Manages a portfolio of 100-125 corporate prospects capable of donations or sponsorships of $5,000 or more to meet or exceed annual goals for the Habitat Team Building Program ($1M+ revenue program).
  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards corporate prospects to achieve or exceed annual corporate and Habitat Team Building Program
  • Sells corporate team build days or Blitz builds and provides relevant build/volunteering information to prospects and the corporate development team as required.
  • Tracks prospect bookings for the Habitat Team Building Program in Raiser’s Edge database and the Habitat Team Building Program schedule and regularly communicates with Construction and Volunteer Services on status of Habitat Team Building Program.
  • Follows up with Habitat Team Building Program corporate partners re: scheduling, payment, surveys and other communications as required.
  • Presents lunch and learn sessions to existing or prospective Habitat Team Building Program corporate groups.
  • Developing strategies for upgrading corporate Habitat Team Building Program donors and increasing retention of corporate donors including stewardship, annual reporting, acknowledgement and recognition.
  • Oversees the Habitat Team Building Program BLITZ program, engaging mid-level corporate donors ($15,000 - $50,000).
  • Working with the Director, Corporate Partnerships and Volunteer Services to continually enhance/improve the Habitat Team Building Program experience for corporate sponsors and donors.
  • Represents the Corporate Partnership program and Fund Development departments to the corporate community as required.
  • In consultation with the Marketing and Communications Team, develops presentations/proposals/e-blasts/media campaigns and other marketing materials related to generating demand for the Habitat Team Building Program.
  • Updates the RE database with corporate donor and prospect activities.
  • Occasionally builds on site alongside corporate teams (as needed).
  • Acknowledges corporate Habitat Team Building Program donors in a timely fashion and according to Habitat GTA’s stewardship and recognition policies.
  • Regularly report on status against annual goals.

 

 

Additional duties include but are not limited to:

  • Contributes to and participates in the cultivation and solicitation of long term partnerships with corporate donors.
  • Manages one direct report, the Fund Development Coordinator, Corporate Partnerships.
  • Contributes to and assists with the day to day stewardship and account management of existing corporate partners.
  • Assists with planning, coordination and execution of corporate fundraising and/or donor recognition events or marketing campaigns.
  • Work with senior volunteers, as needed.

 

 

The duties may be amended from time to time.

 

Qualifications (minimum): 

  • Post-secondary undergraduate degree or diploma required.
  • Minimum 3 years of successful experience in corporate fundraising, business development or sales or equivalent experience.
  • Proven success with corporate sponsorship or sales programs, as well as building and maintaining long-term corporate relationships and comfortable working with senior executives as volunteers.
  • A basic understanding of corporate social responsibility and sponsorship related issues, trends and best-practices in the marketplace.
  • Previous experience successfully managing staff to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
  • Very strong presentation and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to write/speak clearly and persuasively.
  • Solid computer skills in a PC environment with the capability to effectively use constituent fundraising database management software; working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge a plus.
  • Must be a highly energetic professional with a track record of building corporate donor and sponsorship relationships and closing gifts above $5,000.
  • CFRE designation (or equivalent) in good standing is an asset.
  • Adaptable to a flexible work schedule including work on occasional evenings or weekends.
