POSITION: Assistant Manager, ReStore Newmarket

REPORTS TO: Interim Manager, ReStore Newmarket

LOCATION: ReStore Newmarket (16715 Yonge St, Unit C)

STATUS: Permanent, Full-time

As Assistant Manager of the ReStore, you will use your passion, experience and insight to create a compelling, one of a kind shopping experience for our customers. Working closely with both volunteers and staff, you will be responsible for developing, receiving donations, preparing product for sales (i.e. testing, repair, cleaning, pricing), merchandising and customer service.

 

The ReStore Team must be creative, compassionate and excellent communicators.  No two days are the same, so if you are looking for a fast paced and constantly changing role, then the ReStore is a great fit!

 

About the Organization:

Habitat for Humanity GTA is a non-profit housing organization working with communities to build homes for working, low-income families in need of safe, decent, affordable housing. By offering zero down payment, no-interest mortgages capped at 30 percent of a family’s income, Habitat for Humanity GTA offers families a hand up, empowering them to achieve stability and self-reliance through affordable homeownership, so that they can build a better life/a path out of poverty. With the support of donors and volunteers, we build homes in Brampton, Caledon, Toronto, and York Region, serving two-thirds of the GTA.

 

Since 1988, Habitat GTA has built more than 300 homes in partnership with families. Habitat GTA is one of more than 1,400 Habitat for Humanity affiliates worldwide sharing a common vision and purpose. Habitat for Humanity GTA also operates 10 Habitat ReStore home improvement retail stores across the GTA, which sell donated, new and gently-used home furnishing and renovation materials at a fraction of the original price. ReStore proceeds directly support building Habitat homes. ReStore also helps the environment, by diverting thousands of tons of household materials from landfill.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Recording daily SHE (safety, health and environment) inspections and ensuring a safe environment is maintained at all times.
  • Training and supervision of ReStore associates and volunteers.
  • Store Merchandising in a dynamic store with inventory that is always different.
  • Complaint resolution
  • Ensure all donations are valued correctly and priced
  • Up holding all Habitat for Humanity policies and procedures
  • Maintaining good consistent store standards and conditions
  • Develop and maintain local community involvement through events and participation
  • Act as an ambassador for Habitat for Humanity
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as required.  

 

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma
  • 2-5+ years of Management experience
  • 2-5+ years of Retail experience
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Proactive individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Computer excel, word and outlook proficiency
  • Experience using a variety of social media tools (Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, etc.) and an understanding of best practices for their use.
  • Fluency in English essential
  • Organized individual with time management and prioritizing skills
  • Confident, proactive individual who can work well individually or as part of a team

 

Employment Requirements:

  • CSA approved safety footwear, to be worn at all times.
  • Successful completion of Emergency First Aid and/or CPR training as required and provided by Habitat GTA.
  • Successful completion of other training as required and provided by Habitat GTA
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting on a regular basis.
  • Valid G licence and access to a vehicle is preferred.
