POSITION TITLE: Procurement and Deconstruction Coordinator, Trainee (Contract: May 1, 2017 to September 1, 2017)

REPORTS TO: Manager, Deconstruction and Consumer GIK

STATUS AND HOURS: 18-week Full-time, Contract position for a Post-Secondary Student (Summer 2017)

LOCATION: Toronto Office (155 Bermondsey Road Toronto ON, M4A 1X9)

Habitat for Humanity Greater Toronto Area (GTA) is seeking a customer-service focused individual with excellent multi-tasking capabilities to join our Procurement team. The Procurement and Deconstruction Coordinator, Trainee will be responsible for providing an exceptional donor and volunteer experience by working closely with Habitat staff, volunteers and donors to organize and coordinate the donations of product for sale at Habitat GTA ReStores.

 

Organization Summary:

Habitat for Humanity Greater Toronto Area (GTA) is a non-profit charity housing organization that mobilizes volunteers and community members to partner with families to help them build a brighter future and break the cycle of poverty through affordable homeownership. Habitat GTA also operates a retail enterprise called ReStore, with 10 locations across the GTA, which sells new and gently-used home furnishing and renovation materials at great prices. ReStore proceeds support our mission to help working, low-income families build a brighter future through affordable home ownership.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service with an understanding the needs of donors, drivers and stores.
  • Respond to donation inquiries in a timely manner and determine the suitability of donated materials for sale at the ReStore.
  • Work with Deconstruction Coordinators to organize potential donations that require appraisal and/or deconstruction extraction.
  • Conduct site visits and review potential donations for suitability.
  • Assist with coordination and execution of onsite deconstruction donations (removing donated materials from private homes).
  • Provide support to scheduling and dispatch fleet vehicles according to donor and store needs.
  • Assist with planning of routes and communication to crew members, all details and requirements.
  • Assist with determining types or amounts of equipment, vehicles, materials, or personnel required according to donation specifications.
  • Assist to ensure that scheduled routes are appropriately covered.
  • Record and maintain files and records of donor contact, information, booking, cancellation, store inventory needs, and other dispatch information.
  • Assist to ensure the ReStore fleet is operating at high level of productivity.
  • Perform office administrative duties as required by the Senior Manager, ReStore Logistics and Donor Services.
  • Assist with volunteer management, recruitment, engagement and retention.
  • Assist with complaint resolution.
  • Assist to ensure Health and Safety protocols are being followed and adhered to.
  • Assist with ensure that Personal Protective Equipment is on hand and being used at all times by volunteers.
  • Assist with ensuring equipment is in good repair.
  • Participating in Habitat for Humanity efforts and events as appropriate.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as required.

 

These duties may be amended from time to time.

 

Qualifications (minimums):

  • A current Post-secondary student (university or college) with the intention of returning to full time studies in the Fall of 2017.
  • Excellent telephone manner, with proven communication skills and strong customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of local geography of the GTA and ability to read maps.
  • Confident, proactive individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize, and work in a time sensitive and fast-paced environment.
  • Well-developed relationship building skills.Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word and Outlook. Raiser’s Edge knowledge an asset.
  • Self-starter who is able to work both independently and function well within a team.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word and Outlook. Raiser’s Edge knowledge an asset.
