Habitat for Humanity GTA is currently looking for self-motivated ReStore Drivers who are enthusiastic, hardworking and driven towards success. Ideal candidates are able to carefully handle and maneuver heavy merchandise and safely operate company vehicles (experience driving a straight truck is considered an asset). 

 

As a ReStore Primary Driver Ambassador (PDA), you will be responsible for the careful loading and unloading of delivery trucks, deconstruction and salvaging of gently used furniture, appliances and other household items while providing professional, efficient pickup and delivery service in the customers’ homes, corporate offices, and our ReStore sites.  Working with other key departments, the ReStore Driver's goal is to ensure a pleasant and memorable overall customer and donor experience. This collaborative approach to our business creates a helpful, positive environment for all and maintains our standard of excellence for Habitat for Humanity GTA.  

 

Being a ReStore Driver Ambassador for Habitat for Humanity GTA means you are often the front line connection between the company and our valued customers and donors. Our ReStore Drivers are considered amongst the best in the industry because of their professionalism, integrity, skilled product handling, and commitment to providing our customers and donors with the ultimate service experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to manoeuver heavy merchandise with care that results in an efficient, safe and comfortable service experience for our customers both internal and external
  • Evaluating the suitability of materials at pick up and salvage locations in accordance with current criteria established
  • Ensuring all salvage and pick-up sites and surrounding areas are left clean and undamaged.
  • Alerting your Procurement office and Manager of any safety hazards and challenges.
  • Assisting in store operations when required.
  • Ensuring that all vehicles have the proper tools and safety equipment for volunteers and staff.
  • Ensure that all product is packed appropriately using supplied blankets and safety straps.
  • Alerting your Manager the condition of ReStore vehicles and repairs or maintenance as required.
  • Ensure that all log books and vehicle circle checks are completed daily.
  • Ensure that all vehicles are locked adequately any time the vehicle is left unattended and at the end of business day.
  • Ensure proper collection of data in order to facilitate donor receipt services.
  • Demonstrating courtesy and respect while driving and/or interacting with the public, promoting our corporate image.
  • Act as an ambassador for Habitat for Humanity GTA

 

Qualifications

  • Clean Drivers Abstract along with a valid G Driver’s Licence (experience on straight trucks with power tailgates an asset)
  • minimum 3 years of commercial driving experience
  • Education Required: High School Diploma (or Equivalent); post-secondary education an asset
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion to assist and help others in maintaining our goal and mission at Habitat for Humanity GTA
  • Integrity and drive to succeed
