Organization Summary:

Habitat for Humanity Greater Toronto Area (GTA) is a non-profit housing organization that mobilizes volunteers and community partners to work with families to help them build a brighter future and break the cycle of poverty through affordable homeownership. Habitat GTA also operates a retail enterprise called ReStore, which sells new and gently-used home furnishing and renovation materials at great prices. ReStore proceeds support our mission to help working, low-income families build a brighter future through affordable home ownership. ReStore operates 10 locations across the GTA.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support ReStore staff accepting and organizing donations from the community
  • Act as team lead for volunteers organizing and pricing donations in the ReStore
  • Provide excellent customer service for donors inquiring about making donations
  • Assist store staff in tracking donations and volunteer time commitments
  • Assist in ensure a strong volunteer and donor experience in the ReStore
  • Assist with all other duties as required

Qualifications and Requirements:  

  • Currently enrolled in a Secondary or Post-secondary program.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting on a regular basis.
  • Well-developed communication and relationship building skills.
  • Self-starter who is able to work both independently and function well within a team.

To be eligible for this position, applicants must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act2; and,
  • be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
