Volunteer at the ReStore

Do you enjoy shopping? Fixing things? Hanging out in the local hardware store? Combine your passions into a volunteer position at Toronto Habitat ReStore! When you help the ReStore, you help your community. Our profits pay for 100% of Habitat Toronto’s admin costs so every dollar donated goes directly to building homes. Orientations take place on the first Saturday and third Wednesday of each month at all ReStore locations. To get started, sign up online today for an orientation.




ReStore volunteers shifts are:

Monday to Friday: 9am - 2pm and 2pm - 7pm

Saturday: 9am – 2pm and 12 pm to 5pm

Sunday: 12pm to 5pm

Office shifts are: 9am - 5pm, 9am - 1pm and 1pm - 5pm 

The ReStore changes every day and tasks will vary depending on the days challenge. Volunteers will work with the ReStore Manager to prioritize tasks and choose assignments that match your skills and abilities. The ReStore staff will provide safety training and supervision for all volunteer positions.


Merchandise Assistant: Assists ReStore employees in maintaining a clean and attractive store, performs small repairs, sorts donations, prints price tags and shelves inventory, assists customers in making purchases, loads and unloads vehicles.


Customer Assistant:  Greets customers, answers the phone, answers customer questions, marketing and assists them in making purchases, assists ReStore employees in maintaining a clean and attractive store. 

Time Commitment: 5 hours/week for at least one month. 

Volunteer Supervisor: Lead volunteers in projects at our ReStore!  Assist the ReStore staff in supervising volunteers as they complete various tasks: maintaining a clean and attractive store, sorting donations, paperwork, pricing stock and placing inventory, loading and unloading vehicles.

Time Commitment: One 5 hours/week for at least one month. Requires the completion of 4 shifts as a Merchandiser Assistant and 4 shifts as a Customer Assistant


Deconstruction team: This is a hands on deconstruction team that goes in to various neighborhoods in Toronto to remove kitchens, doors, windows, bathrooms and more from donors homes for resale in our ReStores. Always interesting and never in the same place. Time and place requirements are sent out the Friday before via email and you only confirm the ones you will volunteer at.

Time Commitment 4-6 hrs/month. Contact for more information.


ReStore Office Volunteer: Reporting to Manager of Salvage and Procurement/Procurement Coordinator, you will be responsible for offering administrative support to department and providing exceptional customer service to ReStore donors. Tasks include voicemail/phone calls, email, filing, and paperwork and data entry.

Time Commitment 8 hrs/week for 3 months. Contact for more information.
