about us

By mobilizing communities, we build homes to provide working, lower income families with a solid foundation for better, healthier lives.

At Habitat for Humanity, we believe everyone deserves a safe, decent place to call home.

our mission

why it matters

We each have need of food, clothing, education, medical care, and companionship; but first, we must have a place to live and grow.

how it all works

Habitat for Humanity GTA is one of 1,400 affiliates worldwide working to build safe, decent, and affordable homes for families. Every year, we partner with communities to help working, lower income families in the GTA achieve strength, stability, and independence through affordable homeownership.

It starts with good folks like you – generous, groups and individuals who want to make a difference in their community by…

Volunteering Time
Giving Money
Donating Stuff

…giving a hand up to working, lower income families by helping build strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.

Our path to homeownership requires hard work, time and dedication, but this helps ensure the long-term success of the families we partner with.

Families who apply and are accepted to become Habitat homeowners purchase their home through a no down payment, affordable mortgage geared to their income and contribute at least 500 volunteer hours of sweat equity with the organization.

Once they move in, Habitat homeowners are responsible for maintaining their own home. We help families and individuals prepare for homeownership by providing homeowner education classes, ranging from financial literacy and budgeting to home-repair and maintenance.

Donating, shopping or volunteering at Habitat ReStore also helps us build homes.
