BILD celebrates completion of 13th Home Sponsorship

Since 2003, the Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) has been a Title Home Sponsor of Habitat GTA, making it one of our longest-standing community partners.  Each year, BILD generously supports one partner family in their journey to homeownership.

On November 7, at the Home Dedication celebration at the Birchmount Road Site, BILD’s 2015-16 Chair Steve Deveaux presented Muna and Abdenur Mohammed and their five children the keys to their new two-storey semi-detached home. Afterwards, the Mohammed family gave Mr. Deveaux a tour of the home and talked about how homeownership has brought them a new sense of security and optimism for the future.

“It was a pleasure to welcome the Mohammeds into their beautiful new home,” Deveaux said. “The family worked very hard to achieve their dream of homeownership and will continue to thrive for years to come.”

BILD’s more than 1,450 members participate in several events throughout the year to raise money for Habitat GTA including Race for Humanity, Ride for Humanity, Party for Humanity, a Charity BBQ, Charity Softball Tournament and a Holiday Breakfast. In 2016, BILD contributed $80,000 to Habitat GTA.

In addition to raising funds, a group of BILD members volunteered at the Birchmount Build site where they spent the day framing, insulating, installing vapour barriers and casement windows.
