Habitat GTA and ReStore’s Safety Program Boosted with new support from First Alert Canada

This week, Occupational Safety and Health is under the spotlight, with thousands of awareness-raising events taking place across North America. Workplace safety has always been a priority for Habitat for Humanity GTA; over the years we have worked diligently to maintain an excellent safety record.  With Habitat GTA’s amalgamation in 2014, the increase in job sites, ReStore locations, office space, staff and volunteers motivated us to take our commitment to ensuring safety to a new level of excellence.

In order to enhance our existing in-house expertise, we sought out knowledgeable industry partners who are safety leaders in their own right, to help us expand our resources and achieve our goal. The result is Habitat GTA’s Safety Program, forged through a joint partnership with Enbridge Gas DistributionCSA Group and, most recently, First Alert Canada.

“Habitat is the perfect partner for us as safety is their number one priority. The same is true for us at Enbridge. The safety of our customers, the public and our employees is always our top priority,” says John Oakley, Vice President Distribution Operations at Enbridge. “Drawing on, leveraging and sharing our collective safety expertise, knowledge, and commitments with one another deepens and augments the safety programs of both of our organizations.”

This new and improved program has produced many positive outcomes on our job sites, in our offices and in our ReStores.

Thank you to Enbridge Gas Distribution, CSA Group and First Alert Canada for working together with us to help ensure the safety of all our partner families, volunteers and staff.
