This spring
help restore hope for the future

All the Huang family ever wanted was a nice, quiet place to live – a place they can invite friends and have little after-school parties for their seven-year-old daughter, Amelia. But sadly, their experience in Toronto has been traumatic at times.

Struggling against the rising house prices in the GTA, Jason, Lisa and Amelia moved three times over the years and have never felt comfortable in their own home. Despite Jason working as a Financial Analyst and Lisa as a Community Ambassador, they find themselves in an endless cycle of trying to get to a safer, cleaner living space for their daughter yet getting nowhere. The constant moving and challenging living conditions have left them feeling hopeless and uncertain about their family’s future.

“I am always worried about the safety of my family and myself, especially my little daughter.”

Family Hugging

Bed bugs, cockroaches, shouting and yelling in the hallways of their building, nearby drug activity are all a part of their lives.

“As parents, we feel guilty that we cannot give our daughter a better and more safe environment to grow up in.”

Then, one fateful day, a friend told Jason about Habitat for Humanity GTA’s program and the opportunity for affordable homeownership. They loved the idea of having a safe, quality home they could call their own.

Now, thanks to the support of Habitat for Humanity GTA and our generous donors, everything is about to turn around for Jason, Lisa and little Amelia. They’re ready for a fresh start, as they look forward to moving into their own, brand-new condominium downtown, near shopping, parks and schools. And Amelia will soon be able to have little parties with her friends.

With your support, we can make a difference and address our housing affordability crisis.

In 2021, 23 families moved into their new Habitat homes in the Greater Toronto Area, but there is more work to be done, and we can’t do it without your help.  By giving a donation today, you are helping restore hope in the future, to families just like the Huangs, in communities across Brampton, Caledon, Oshawa, York Region and Toronto.

Please give generously, so we can continue our ground-breaking work of providing even more families with a safe and decent place to live.
