TREB Continues Dedication to Helping Habitat GTA and Habitat Families

The Toronto Real Estate Board (TREB) has enthusiastically partnered with Habitat GTA on a number of Habitat build projects since 1999. Last year, TREB contributed $150,000 to Habitat GTA’s largest build project at 140 Pinery Trail through its participation in the 2016 Ontario REALTORS Care® Foundation’s Every REALTOR® Campaign, a campaign to which TREB Members donated $547,065 in 2016. New in 2016, TREB began donating a special “Welcome Home” household toolkit to every GTA Partner Family at their home dedication ceremony.

In November 2016, TREB Members also rolled up their sleeves to participate in four build days at our Pinery Trail build site. TREB President Larry Cerqua participated in the build and took a break from his build shift to present the $150,000 cheque to Habitat for Humanity GTA and speak to the group of volunteers at the site.

“TREB is proud to support Habitat for Humanity GTA and the incredible work they do to ensure GTA families achieve their dream of home ownership,” said Mr. Cerqua. “Homeownership is a key determinant of economic and social well-being. It provides individuals and families with a stable and secure roof over their heads and allows them to focus on the other things that matter in life such as family, career and community.”

As a Title Home Sponsor at Pinery Trail, TREB’s donation will help the Kabir-Akter family realize their dream of affordable homeownership.  At the official groundbreaking ceremony in August, TREB President-Elect Tim Syrianos and TREB Board of Director-at-Large, Nito Morcos-Brown had the opportunity to meet the family and hear firsthand about how becoming a Habitat Partner Family has given them fresh hope for the future.

Our deepest thanks to TREB and its Members for their outstanding support of Habitat for Humanity GTA and for their efforts to promote affordable ownership for all. To hear more about the impact TREB’s support has had on Habitat GTA and our Habitat partner families, Watch the video!
