Wayne’s Story

Although we can’t imagine Habitat for Humanity GTA without him, we think you will agree Wayne has earned this wonderful next chapter in his life. Not only has he helped build homes for families to thrive in, he’s also been there as Habitat GTA has grown from serving six municipalities to now serving 20, including Brampton, Caledon and cities in York Region and Durham Region.

Wayne was previously a well-respected builder of luxury homes in the Muskoka area for over 30 years. He then decided that he wanted to shift his expertise to helping another segment of the building industry, one that aligned with his values of giving back to his community –  affordable housing. His goal was to retire after helping to build 500 homes, but like everything Wayne does, he has exceeded his goal.  

After all that Wayne has done to support Habitat GTA’s mission of getting more families into affordable homes, we are reaching out to you to help support him. In honour of Wayne’s legacy, we want to work together to raise $100,000 to sponsor the construction of a home for a Habitat GTA family in Durham Region. We plan on surprising him with this tribute later in 2022, prior to his retirement.

So we are reaching out to you, whether you are his personal friend, a friend of Habitat for Humanity, a colleague, a business partner, or a member of an association, we ask you to donate to this meaningful and lasting tribute worthy of Wayne’s contribution to helping build a better GTA for us all.
