Designer-led initiative supports affordable homebuilding in the GTA

TORONTO, October 14, 2021 – “Posh Pumpkins” have taken over the Habitat for Humanity GTA ReStore located at 700 Kipling Ave. in support of affordable home building.

Several of Canada’s top artists and designers have hand-painted, airbrushed and bejewelled dozens of pumpkins, transforming them into works of art. Some of the creations feature icons like Marilyn Munroe and Audrey Hepburn, others feature the likes of Baby Shark and for those looking for something truly posh, there are pumpkins in the style of Chanel and Louis Vuitton and many more.

“If you’re looking to get into the Halloween spirit we invite you to come by and check out the incredible display at Habitat ReStore Etobicoke because these ‘Posh Pumpkins’ are unlike anything you’ve seen before,” said Communications Manager Johnny Keogh. “Unlike carved pumpkins, ‘Posh Pumpkins’ last longer and are expertly-crafted by one of the country’s leading designers. And the best part – when you choose to take one home you are supporting the construction of affordable housing in your community.”

Toronto designer Nicholas Rosaci came up with the idea of creating “Posh Pumpkins” for a good cause and rallied other artists to take part.

“The pumpkin is the ultimate canvas – people expect it to look a certain way but there are so many unique possibilities and it’s a beautiful way to express something artistic,” said Rosaci. “We love the idea that as designers we get to offer the community a special take on the pumpkin and support a non-profit organization at the same time.”
