Election 2021: Ways to Engage

Election 2021

When Canadians cast their ballots on Election Day one of the top issues on their minds will be affordable housing. Since the start of the pandemic, home prices have skyrocketed 38%, leaving even more people in the GTA unable to find a safe, decent affordable home. If we want to see real change on this issue, it’s going to take asking for real political leadership.

Ways to Engage this Election

  1. Make sure you’re registered to vote by visiting Elections Canada and vote on Monday, Sept. 20, 2021 or in advanced polls where available.
  2. Check out Habitat for Humanity GTA’S CEO Ene Underwood’s opinion pieces in the Toronto Star and on Medium. Share and talk to friends and family about why housing matters to you.
  3. Take a look at each party platform and look for details about the following:
    • How is the party supporting the National Housing Strategy?
    • What is the plan to ensure not-for-profit organizations like Habitat for Humanity continue to have access to affordable land?
    • What is the plan to ensure Indigenous, black and other racialized communities have access to affordable housing?
