Welcoming 8 families Home for the Holidays

Picture your home. It’s your safe, comforting place to return to at the end of the day, where you can relax after taking on the everyday challenges of life. A place to dream, to hope, to plan for your future. At the end of the day, it’s the place you can kick off your shoes, feel safe, and comfortable.

Over the holidays, “home” is an extension of family. It’s where we gather to celebrate and spend quality time with our friends and loved ones. And we’re proud to report that we welcomed eight families home in December just in time for the 2018 holidays. That’s 16 parents and 23 children that now have a safe, decent, and affordable home to celebrate the holidays and ring in the new year.

Beckonrose (Brampton)

The opportunity for affordable homeownership at Daniels’ FirstHome Beckonrose community is made possible thanks to a thriving 20+ year partnership with The Daniels Corporation. A partnership that goes beyond Habitat GTA, and extends to Habitat affiliates across southern Ontario.

Thanks to Daniels’ leadership and strong belief in giving back, the company’s generosity has resulted in more than 60 working, lower-income families becoming Habitat homeowners over 21 years. On December 5^th, we celebrated the Kanwal family becoming Habitat homeowners at a Home Dedication Ceremony at Daniels’ FirstHome Beckonrose community in Brampton.

McLaughlin Road (Brampton)

On December 11^th, we were honoured to be joined by volunteers, donors, political dignitaries, members of the media, and the seven families that now call our McLaughlin Road Build their home.

Our McLaughlin Road project is a 13-home townhouse build which will provide 24 parents and 38 children with a safe, decent, and affordable place to call home. The first two blocks were finished with enough time for families to move in time for the holidays, while the next 6 units will be completed in 2019.
